5 Must Watch Netflix Anime Series In 2018

Netflix has been on a roll recently when it comes to pushing out quality anime. There are shows & movies for everyone this year & Netflix have much more awesome stuff lined up to bamboozle us even further. However, here are my personal, 5 must-watch Netflix anime series (for the time being) that you should definitely check out this year.

5 Must Watch Netflix Anime Series In 2018

5. A.I.C.O: Incarnation

Brought to us by Studio Bones, A.I.C.O: Incarnations is a futuristic Sci-Fi series focusing on around a biological catastrophe(Burst) that engulfs a city, instantly terminating any living organism it comes in contact with, Even after witnessing how dire the situation is, scientists decide to leave the burst the way it is & conduct studies to create artificial life. Enters Aico Tachibana, our protagonist who is somehow related to all this in a really strange way. (I don’t want to spoil the plot too much) Now, she finds out that she is now a vital key to humanity’s future.

Trust me, you have to watch this keeping this vague synopsis in mind to thoroughly enjoy this show. It has a huge cast of characters you’ll get to know in the first 2 episodes & boy is it filled with awesome action-packed rescue scenes with great animation. Even though  I’m ranking it at number 5 on the list, it’s a safe bet you’ll find it entertaining if you’re into Sci-Fi. So do check it out.

4. Children of the Whales

Although it aired back in 2017, its been recently made available on Netflix. Now, I’ll make this clear right off the bat, Children in Whales is a really made for everyone. Some people like it & some people don’t. You’ll find out which category you belong to in the first 4 episodes. Regardless, it’s a pretty interesting show which has a lot to offer if you’re willing to give it a shot.

The story revolves around a remote island called ‘Mud whales’ that basically sails in an endless sea of sand, whose inhabitants are divided into two categories, marked & unmarked. The so-called marked individuals possess supernatural abilities however it basically shortens their lifespan. Chakuro, a 14-year-old kid (who is a marked individual) one day goes on an expedition with a group after spotting an island across the horizon after a long time which results in the fateful encounter of a girl who’s about to have a major impact on the lives of inhabitants of the island.

3. Devil Man Crybaby

It’s a re-adaption of the classic Devil Man Manga & anime shows that used to air all the way back in the 90s.

This show will come as really weird in the beginning, but it gets good really quick. The animation & art style is somewhat a blend of old-school anime & some modernized shows which makes it really unique. A ton of blood & gore and some really great action sequences. The Direction for this was handled by none other than Masaki Yuasa (Do Check out his other projects) which will leave you in awe once you slowly discover the underlying symbolism by watching the show a few times over.

2. B:The Beginning

Take Psycho-Pass, Tokyo ghoul & Death Note…Smash it all together. B: the beginning is what you’ll end up with. For someone who is a sucker for Psychological, thriller & Sci-Fi content…I really enjoyed this one to the fullest. Production I.G did a great job animating this one. Oh & just a reminder, the Ending Soundtrack for this anime is really worth appreciation.

The show gets interesting with each episode & story gets even more layered as the plot unravels which keeps you invested. Great entertainment value.

1. Violet Evergarden:

A story about Violet, a tool who served as a ruthless killer on the battlefield, void of any emotions who end up in custody of Major Gilbert, a kind-hearted soldier who actually considers her as an ordinary girl & not a tool. Now that the war is over, all she is left with are the final orders of the only person she considers important in her life to simply live on, but unable to comprehend his last words, Violet sets on a journey to understand what “I love you” means, as she tries to find her place in this world.

Definitely a strong contender for anime of the season. I can go on preaching how gorgeous & heart-warming this show for an entire article. It is pure bliss. When it comes to animation, this show stands as an undisputed winner for me when you consider the sheer amount of detail & fluidity it possesses. Kyoto animation certainly did raise the standards of what modern anime is capable of with this one.

Just go & watch Violet Evergarden right now if you still haven’t for some reason.

That is all for this post, Hope you guys agree with my list & let me know which of the above shows you’ve watched & personally enjoyed the most.
